The
Author
Author J. Henry Warren lives with his
wife and family on a small horse farm in southeastern Pennsylvania and enjoys the outdoors
as well as mechanical equipment, business venture, computer electronics, economics, and
reading.
Writing fiction is a passion.
He discovered life early on saltwater marshes,
boats, and adventure in Avalon, a barrier island off the mainland of southern New Jersey.
While tossing about working summers in a local marina, he experienced escapades and tales
to fill encyclopedias. The author continues to enjoy fishing, boating, flying, skiing,
racing, and sailing, and always plans on an adventure... sometimes to the chagrin of those
with him.
The author attended Admiral Farragut Academy, a
military boarding school named for the famous Admiral who coined the famous rallying cry Damn
the Torpedoes - Full speed ahead! He later studied mechanical engineering, then
marketing and economics, fixed cars, played lead guitar in a sixties rock band, served in
the United States Navy for six years during the Vietnam War, worked for the NSA and
CIAs Naval Security Group Communication Command, started and a few businesses,
married, had a few kids, and returned to college and grad school a few times for degrees
and workshops.
He has degrees in Economics,
Marketing, and Finance from the University of Pennsylvanias Wharton School of
Business and Finance, and while attending the MBA program at Temple University in
Philadelphia he began to write fiction.
"Just for the heck of it. It was
kind of a private retreat...a place to get away from it all. Mostly fiction, some not. I
create worlds where a few people do as they should... for a change!"
J. Henry is the Fiction Committee
Chair for the Writers Room of Bucks County and belongs to and is active with MWA (Mystery
Writers of America) and RWA (Romance Writers of America) and BCRW (Bucks County Romance
Writers). He speaks regularly at book signings and lectures often on suspense and mystery
writing.
The author is also a CCBW (Chief
Cook and Bottle Washer) of a small aerospace/defense sub-contract manufacturing and
distribution company that represents, designs and builds instrument tracking and alignment
systems for everything from missiles to airplanes, from ships to balloons, and guns to
patios. The dot com enterprise can be visited at planetsurvey.com.
He is also a Professional Ski Instructor,
PSIA Certified Adaptive, for individuals with disabilities, and you will probably find him
teaching on weekends on the slippery slopes of the northeast. When it's too warm to ski,
you will most likely find him either sitting quietly fishing offshore, or in a fast
boat...or in an old Porsche careening around racetracks such as Watkin's Glen, Pocono
Raceway, or Jefferson County raceway...or working on his latest novel.
J. Henry is an experienced licensed
private instrument rated airplane pilot. A pilot for more than twenty five years, his
training and experience permit instrument aircraft flight in good weather as well as bad.
Many of his experiences are reflected in
his writing.
"Life needs to be
lived! No one will or can live it for you! Enjoy every second
and damn the
torpedoes!" J. Henry Warren
